Ryukyu glass is a glass craft produced mainly in Okinawa Prefecture using hot work techniques such as glass blowing and burner work.
Ryukyu glass, also known as "Okinawa glass" or "Ryukyu glass," began when empty cola and beer bottles discarded by the US military were melted down and recycled due to resource shortages after the Pacific War. Nowadays, such waste bottle materials have become valuable, and are being produced from silica and other materials.
Generally, glass heated to a high temperature needs to be cooled over a period of hours, a process called "slow cooling." However, we use special glass and operate a workshop using Okinawa's first technology that allows us to shorten the precious time of our guests as much as possible and meet requests from tourists who want to wear the accessories they make immediately during their trip.
For silverwork, instead of time-consuming, force-intensive work like engraving, which requires skill, we use art clay, which is easy to finish and allows you to create your own unique piece.
We work inside a building that can be used even on typhoon days, so you can come and play even when you can't go out due to bad weather. There's not much to do on rainy days in Ishigaki Island, so please come and play even on those days!
