Handmade Journal Binding and Journaling Workshop

Led by Ipek & Zeynep Ozbay · Paper Street

Beginner Friendly All Materials Provided 2.5 Hours Max 10 Students

About This Workshop

Join us for a hands-on workshop where participants will create their own personalized journal from scratch using recycled paper and traditional Japanese binding techniques. Participants will experiment with collage to design and customize their journal covers, creating a one-of-a-kind notebook shaped by their own aesthetic and intention.

Led by Paper Street founders Zeynep and Ipek Ozbay, the session introduces the fundamentals of journal binding, from selecting papers and composing covers to stitching and assembling the final piece. Alongside the making process, we will explore how working with our hands can slow us down and transform a blank page into a space for reflection.

In the second part of the workshop, participants will be guided through accessible journaling techniques focused on intention-setting, creative expression, and everyday writing rituals. The session concludes with a quiet journaling moment inspired by a shared prompt.

By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with handmade journals and practical tools to continue a personal creative practice.
